DEPARTING Leicester Speedway boss Simon Stead has spoken about his exit from the club.
Stead has stood down after one season at the helm having raced for the club during his glittering career.
He said: “It is with regret that I have decided to step down as team manager for Leicester Lions.
“Despite the on track results I have very much enjoyed working with the team and I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received from the fans.
“I have taken a new role within our family business and there is the prospect of a more prominent role within Sheffield Speedway, my home town club.
“I now feel I am unable to give Leicester Speedway and its riders the commitment it deserves.
“I would like to wish everybody involved with Leicester Lions Speedway every success in the future.”
The Watling JCB Lions have been aware of this situation for some time and a further announcement is expected on Thursday morning.
